His life’s work, evil master plan, only goal: to annihilate the human race of Ente Isla and their gods.
So how’d the Devil King end up an hourly employee at a fast food joint in Tokyo?
And why doesn’t he seem more upset about it?
The Devil King and Alciel, his demon general, are stuck in Japan because they lost their demonic powers when they escaped Ente Isla. The Great Hero had managed to gather the few remaining troops and force the Devil King to retreat by escaping through a gate to another world - a world of giant buildings, shining lights, and no magic. The two evil beings now live in despicable squalor. They are barely making enough money to get by. They only thing that keeps them going is the intention of getting back to Ente Isla and completing their mission.
However, the Devil King has been acting strange. He seems to like his fast food job a little too much. He is trying really hard to get promoted to management so that he can have the power of a salaried employee - something he sees as the only source of power in his new land. He is super accommodating to customers and really friendly with his co-workers. Things get even stranger when he discovers that the Great Hero is also trapped in Tokyo. Instead of fighting her to the death, it actually seems like he is helping her. All of this makes Alciel, his right hand man, very uncomfortable with the status of the Devil King’s evilness.
This series is really entertaining and quite funny. The deadpan tone and host of interesting characters make The Devil is a Part-Timer a fun manga pick for all ages.
