When a twelve year old Japanese American girl named Angela or Angie Kato is being sent to Gardena a small town outside Los Angeles with her grandparents. She was not happy at all to be spending her whole summer with her grandparents, rather she what to be hanging out with her friends at home. But In her family there is not allow to Monku or complaining. When Angie gets to her grandparent home she has to get to work fast. Angie main job is to fold Japanese paper crane for wedding and celebrations. At first all her cranes were graded as F’s and D’s by her grandma Michi. But later on, her cranes improve and she was hired to make 1001 for a wedding. Later she learns why her parent sent her to her Grandparent’s house all summer they were working on getting diverse. While she is working all day she goes home to her grandparent house and goes into her mom room, under her bed there is a special piece of her mom’s past. Angie try’s to open it, and was successful. She decided to go out with her skateboard to get her mind of work and parents getting divorce. She meant new people especially tony a skateboarder that she fell in ‘LOVE’ with. trough out the story Angie learn about love, friendship culture and family
It was an interesting book to read because you can’t but in down, you want to know what is going to happen to her or what she has found out. She is just like a normal teenager that it going to difficult time of her life and she can’t find her way out.
