Database Practice
- Do a keyword search using your research topic - one or two words
- It is important to generate a manageable number of quality results.
- Use the subject headings on the left to narrow for your specific topic.
- Type another keyword in the box labeled "search within results" if you need to narrow your search (meaning you need less results).
- Use another keyword if you need to broaden your search (meaning you need more results).
- Skim the results
- To find the best records for your topic skim the titles and short summary.
- Use the "Related Subjects" list on the right.
- Save and email yourself records
- Create a folder of records by clicking "save."
- Find your saved list by clicking "More" on the top right then click "My Folder."
- Email yourself the best records by clicking "Email" located on the right under "Tools."
